The founders of AIESEC started to build the organization between 1946 - 1948, but a clear vision and mission have been formed only at the International Congress in Stockholm in 1949.

The mission of AIESEC ( from Fr. Association International des Etudientes en Science Economique et Commercial; now this name is not used, there is only an abbreviation ) was "to develop friendly relations among nations and peoples." The main tool for achieving this goal was recognized as an international student exchange. Was defined status of an international, nongovernmental, nonprofit and nonpolitical organization.

Representatives from Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Holland, Norway and Sweden, have affixed their signatures to the founding documents. Since 1949, AIESEC has developed rapidly: the members of the association are more than 100 countries. Carried out annually approximately 5 000 international internships.

AIESEC in Russia

1969 - The International Secretariat of AIESEC in 1969 for the first time attempted to establish contact with the students of the Soviet Union. All-Union Student Council was represented by the activities of AIESEC, and a proposal to open AIESEC in the USSR. Negotiations and exchanges of delegations were delayed for nearly 20 years.

1988-1989 - The preparations for accession to the Soviet Union in AIESEC. In 1989 at the International Congress in Quebec City, Canada, AIESEC USSR was formally adopted by the Association. Among the first cities to open a local branch of AIESEC was and Chelyabinsk .

1990 - At the end of 1990 the members of AIESEC USSR were already 18 universities that train specialists in economic fields. 15 more universities joined the Association on the rights of prospective members. As part of AIESEC USSR, projects that contribute to the professionalization of the future of Soviet specialists in economics and management. Participation in the internship program provides students the opportunity to Soviet reality to get acquainted with the principles of foreign companies and Soviet enterprises - use knowledge of foreign experts. 20 people took part in international exchanges, about 60 Soviet companies have expressed willingness to accept foreign trainees. A conference "Entrepreneurship in the USSR", a seminar on "Volga-90" conference to attract foreign investment and the creation of investment protection, the participation of Russia in the international division of labor, where he made ​​First Deputy Chairman of Supreme Soviet of Russia.
